My name is Dave. When I was a little kid, I was obsessed with monsters.

I would always find imaginary monsters lurking in the shadows of my bedroom at night. Instead of sleeping, I would often make friends with my monsters and pretend to play hide and seek with them late into the night.

Cup Monsters are monsters I’ve found lurking in the bottom of my coffee cup at work.

My process is simple: I drink one or two cups of coffee from a styrofoam coffee cup in the morning at work. While I’m working the coffee left in the bottom of the cup stains the styrofoam. At the end of the day I cut out the bottom of the cup and draw in the details of the monster suggested by the stain on the cup. I’m planning to make one for every weekday I work.
